Since 1996, Mark Tompkins’ involvement within the Denver real estate market has allowed him to form an intricate network of professionals whom Mark is proud to call friends and colleagues. For the majority of that time Mark held senior positions in two private real estate development firms based in Denver.
Mark has been intimately involved in financing and operations of multiple large scale projects involving TIF and metropolitan districts in various municipalities including Denver, Littleton, Westminster, Englewood, and Lakewood. The overall total financings Mark has participated in structuring and executing is in excess of $1 billion. He also was involved in the delivery of more than 1 million square feet of commercial space and over 1,400 residential units, consisting primarily of condominiums and townhomes, ranging from workforce to high end product throughout the metro area.
During two separate periods spanning more than four years, Mark held redevelopment positions for the Denver Urban Renewal Authority (“DURA”). Mark was responsible for underwriting DURA’s potential participation on dozens of proposed projects spanning the gamut of residential, retail, hospitality and office uses. He regularly served as the developer’s primary contact throughout negotiations with DURA, and worked to craft the terms and conditions of DURA’s assistance. Mark actively participated in managing DURA’s $600 million portfolio of public investment leveraging nearly $7 billion in redevelopment projects.
Prior to joining DURA, he served from 2006-2013 as the Chief Operating Officer of Continuum Partners, an internationally acclaimed developer of large mixed-use projects, including the Denver Union Station multi-modal transit hub, and Lakewood’s Belmar project. From 1996-2004 Mark served as VP of Finance for a Vancouver, BC based real estate developer responsible for residential, commercial, and historic rehabilitation projects in the Denver market in excess of $300 million.
Mark is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a degree in Business Administration, emphases in Accounting and Finance. Since 2017 Mark has served on ULI Colorado’s executive team as Treasurer, and served as a trustee for the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver 2009-2018. When not working, Mark enjoys time with his wife, Felicity, and their four children, spending countless hours at swim meets and softball games.
